Sanibel Surfside 231

This was probably one of my favorite rentals we have ever had. The views of the beach were stunning... FROM EVERY ROOM IN THE HOUSE! I am not even sure how that is possible, but the stars aligned with this place. It does not feel like a condo, and the pictures don't do the size justice. The beds were super comfortable, the pool (we used the one next door as the condo's pool is still being redone) was heated and I believe salt water and was amazing. The beds were comfortable, and the home has been decorated beautifully. It is actually TWO units that are seamlessly connected. But would be great for a family that wants some separation between sleeping kids and night owl parents. There was no construction and it was extremely quiet. Access to the beach is RIGHT THERE, and the sand, sun and shells cannot be beat!

Location is great. Space is a double condo. On the surface the condo was clean but the floor was dirty. After going barefoot, our feet were black the first night. The cushions on the outdoor furniture in the dining has stains on it. The bathroom in the Master Bedroom was very nice.

The manager was a little snippy when we were confused about the digital locks. (Door on first floor with digital lock is owners' closet, door to condo on third floor) But, it was resolved. It is a large space, especially for only 6 guests. Loved the island with all its amenities.

We are very sorry to hear about the dirty floors and the stained outdoor furniture, we definitely don't like hearing that the condo wasn't cleaned per our very high standards. Next time, please let us know right away and we would've sent a cleaner back over to re-clean the floors as well as try to spot-clean the outdoor furniture. Also, I believe you may be speaking about one of the office staff and I am very, very sorry to hear that you weren't given the proper customer experience we strive for. We love the apartment! Overall a wonderful place to stay. We do need to say that the TV in the Living area was hard to work; it seems older than those in the bedrooms. The update bathrooms and bedroom are wonderful.

Were surprised to note that there were very few wine glasses.(4) We had to buy more of our own, which we took home with us. The conditions of the walls in the living area is not great; average at best. Also, you need more teaspoons! Other that those few things, the place was very well furnished and the spaciousness was relaxing! Kitchen could use a makeover!

This is a spacious condo with a beautiful view. The bedrooms, bathroom and laundry have been updated and are very nice. The mattress comfort is just ok. The living area and kitchen are in need of updating, but assume they will be done as nicely as the bedrooms/bathrooms at some point. The furniture in the living area is quite uncomfortable (wicker outdoor type)so it would be nice to have better furniture and a bigger,better TV in such a large space. But overall, it's a nice place, in a good location and has several amenities--pool, tennis,
a beach cabana, beach chairs, etc, and good restaurants and shops nearby.

We absolutely loved it! The place was clean, very spacious, with beautiful views. The bedrooms were all large with their own bathrooms. The cabana was nice for keeping beach equipment closer to the beach, and the beach closet located in the garage was full of stuff for the beach, including a cart to haul it. We would definitely rent this place again!

Spacious rental with everything you need for a great stay. Beach closet has all the beach chairs, umbrellas, and floats you will need. The cabana is a short walk from the beach and has a bathroom. Overall the condo was clean and well appointed. The views are spectacular.

This unit is amazing in its size and location. Perfect for large families. It could use some renovations, especially the master bath. Ceramic floor tiles could use some maintenance. Many are broken. Sliding doors stick. Beach chairs and umbrellas are sad. Cabana room on the beach is amazing. Pool very nice. I don't cook much on Sanibel, so kitchen was adequate. Overall, I would stay here again (especially if the master bath is renovated).

Deborah, Thank you for the feedback regarding your stay at Sanibel Surfside #231. The owners plan on renovating the master bath and other areas of the condo over the summer when peak season is completely over. I will definitely make a list of the maintenance issues for them and also our maintenance team who can hopefully get those issues resolved ASAP! The inspector will definitely take new beach chairs and umbrella over to the condo this weekend, thanks for letting us know and we are sorry we didn't notice sooner! We love that cabana also, definitely a huge selling point of the condo! We hope to welcome you back in the future.

It was great. The rental company really worked with us and were very kind with any of our questions. The unit is dated but clean and very large. Two bathrooms were updated and I loved the mirrors they put in the updated bathrooms. The mattresses were newer and that made a huge difference. Having a cabana located so close to the beach was very nice. We had lunch there everyday and the bathroom was very nice to have so close. Another plus was the owner let you use their beach chairs and umbrellas and they had a sand cart so you could tote them down to the beach. I would rent this unit again.

This is a very large corner unit in a small condo community, "Sanibel Surfside" It's large enough to sleep 10 people but the POA of this property will only allow 6. We had 5 in our party and felt like we had more than enough space and privacy. The unit has some updated furnishings but could use a fresh coat of paint and an updated kitchen. We had a few minor maintenance issues and SBL Vacations was quick to respond to them. Two of the 3.5 bathrooms have been updated and the beds were pretty good, a little on the firmer side for our taste. We did not use the cabana very much but it is more convenient for the use of a bathroom or Fridge/Kitchen for making lunch or drinks while spending time on the beach. The Cabana is a little bit of a walk from the beach but way closer than going up to the condo which is on the 3rd floor. I loved waking up each morning and opening all the sliding doors in living room and watching the beach walkers and hearing the ocean sounds while drinking our coffee. Another plus is this property has an elevator, grocery carts in covered parking for hauling up your food for the week, A nice pool area (but no pool bathrooms available) Gas barbeque grills, Shuffleboard and tennis. Sanibel Island has lots of paved flat bike trails so be sure and rent some bikes, it beats sitting in the traffic! We loved Sanibel island and will definitely be back.

The unit was extremely spacious and clean, the cabana is a wonderful spot close to the beach to store items and clean up. There is a huge amount of beach items in a large closet in the parking area for guest use. The view of the beach from the unit was great for the grandparents who were limited with their activity. The location is very convenient. The furnishings and beds were very comfortable. The oven needs to be replaced, it took an extremely long time to heat up, but we made it work. The only real issue we had was with what seemed to be the owner of another unit in the complex, she came out and yelled and screamed at our kids about them moving a chair while they were at the pool, told them they were a disgrace to their families, she seemed to be emotionally unstable.

As usual we had a wonderful time in this condo. We love the huge space abd location. Also we couldn't ask for a more professional rental comany to rent from. Rob and Charlie are a pleasure to work with, The office staff, Carly, Bethany and Michelle were very helpful.
Congratulations to the new owners. We hope you enjoy the condo as much as we have. We have been told that you plan on making some renovations that are clearly needed. We hope that this becomes true. My one suggestion is that you put some kind of "safety bars" in the showers which are in need if help. We have two members of our family who have some physical disabilities, which having safety bars in showers would be nice. Over all condo was clean, except we felt that floors had not been properly moped. We are looking forward to our stay next year and excited to see what changes you have made.

This rental was perfect for my family, plenty of separate space and family space. The views were great and we loved getting the breeze from all the windows. Loved having the cabana to store beach stuff and not have to walk up the stairs each time. Rental was dated on the inside and could use some freshing up, but had everything we needed for our stay. Staff was quick to respond to fixing a bed that was broken when we arrived. Floors were not cleaned the best and we walked around with shoes due to our feet getting dirty when we walked without them after arriving.

We treated four of our grandchildren (ages 5-14) to a Sanibel vacation after spending the last 20 years here ourselves. The overall experience was wonderful - many good memories made. The Condo - Sanibel Surfside 231 was very spacious and the location was excellent. The facility was quiet, clean and had a family-type atmosphere. The bedding was of good quality and the appliances wonderful, especially the large capacity washer and dryer. The view from the condo was spectacular. The unit is very much in need of updating -especially the flooring. The bathrooms showed age and wear. Even though the condo was very clean, the floors were filthy - the bottoms of our feet would be black after walking over them. The vacuum cleaner in the unit had no bags and there was not any cleaning supplies or we would have cleaned over them ourselves. The keyless access was very convenient and the staff was very helpful. We would recommend this unit to others, however, would warn them of these issues. A professional decorator could do wonders with this unit.

Surfside 221 is a spacious unit with great views and ample sitting and dining areas. While the unit has some new furniture it is also in need of a refresh. Bathrooms were tired needing grouting and painting, two bathroom drains were clogged with hair and dishes needed to be rewashed when we arrived. The kitchen had adquate appliences and cookware, but the glassware was limited, comprised of mostly single glasses that one might find in a college dorm room.

THat said, the management company was responsive when towels and cleaning materials were requested. Beds were comfortable and the condition, while not worth the premium price, did not hamper a great two weeks.

We were a family of six, including teens and grandparents that stayed in the condo for 2 weeks. We only have positive things to say and have recommended the condo to our friends who are interested in staying there next year. The condo was very large with a big kitchen that we used almost every day. We have stayed at rentals that have condiments, spices etc. that are available when you arrive but just as an FYI this one only has S&P. The views are beautiful and the pics are very accurate. Having the beach side cabana with all of the chairs and umbrella was convenient and made it that much easier not having to lug supplies very far. We did need a couple of simple things, such as light bulbs replaced and a cabinet door fixed and they were very helpful and fast to repair them. Everyone we encountered was friendly and professional. For visitors on a budget we recommend stopping at a grocery in Ft. Meyers as the mark up on groceries on the Island is near double the price. We had a wonderful time and my family is already talking about a return trip.

Gorgeous views. Ample space, with excellent ratio of bedrooms to bathrooms. Well-stocked kitchen with plenty of room for multiple cooks. The extra cabana is very helpful as a waystation to the beach. We had three adults and two children and there was ample space and amenities for every taste. It’s now our favorite place to stay on Sanibel.

Great rental for an extended family. We had three individual couples staying in the unit, with each having their own bedroom! There was plenty of living space that no one felt crowded or in someone's way. The large kitchen allowed us to cook some meals for all of us which was nice not to have to go out all the time.

Great location. Convenient to the beach. Hosted dinners for a family reunion there and there was lots of seating and space. Nice large kitchen! Would have liked an empty cupboard for groceries! Loved the property & the closeness to the beach. Also enjoyed the fact that a cabana was available for our use. The unit was very clean & well maintained,( had a few light bulbs missing, had a light out over the dining table, a stopper missing in 1 bathroom sink) ,nothing major. Loved the open floor plan & a nice sized kitchen so that several of us could cook together Lots of games available..Had more than enough beach & bath towels. We even enjoyed the pool & the shuffleboard court! Also nice that we had 2 covered parking spots, we did get our exercise hauling things to & from the car! Excellent customer service from beginning to end. We enjoyed the Sunday farmers market , the Darling wildlife park & had a great meal at Cips & some huge fish tacos at Doc Ford's Rum Bar & Grill in Captiva where we did a porpoise watching excursion that was great for our17 mo old grandson. Would certainly recommend this area to anyone!

This was our third time that we have stayed in this unit, obviously, we enjoy staying here. Love all the space, condo is huge, with a great view of the ocean. Rob and Charlie as usual were great to work with. Both gentlemen seem to really care that we were happy with the accommodations. Carly is very knowledgeable in helping us with our reservations also.
It was nice to have all new and very comfortable mattresses in all the bedrooms. Also new refrigerator.
Bathrooms could use a little updating. Also a very important safety suggestion has been raised. Two of the people in our family have some physical disabilities (one has Parkinson disease) If we are to continue to use this unit it would be VERY helpful if safety rails be put in all the showers.
We are looking forward to our trip again next October.

Our condo that we had originally booked was under construction and we were given this condo as a substitute choice. Let me just say, staying at this condo made our vacation even better!!! What an amazing place. So spacious and accommodating, with a breathtaking view of the beach! When we walked into this condo we were so excited and pleased. It provided plenty of room and amenities. We enjoyed having a family game night with one of the many games provided or doing some of the puzzles while listening to music on the stereo and "fitting in" doing some laundry with the full size washer & dryer. The cabana near the beach equipped with a small fridge, shower, toilet and beach gear was so helpful. This was a great place to store our things without needing to carry it back to the condo. One word sums our experience staying at this condo "Amazing". Thank you so much, we will definitely be back!!! We also want to give a shout out to the friendly grounds keeper gentleman, he was always out early in the morning working hard making the place look GREAT! Thank you!

Our family was here to celebrate our Mom and Dad's 65th wedding Anniversary. The unit was very spacious and well equipped. The view from the living space and two of the bedrooms was beautiful. The unit was very clean and the property was very well maintained. There were ample beach chairs, umbrellas and towels available. We all enjoyed the beach, shelling, and the pool. This was our fourth year staying in this condo with two other couples. The picture of the living area is very deceiving. It looked like this the first year we stayed here. But now there is only one table and it is not by the window. That was our favorite thing to do - enjoy the view while visiting with our friends. There is also a lot less furniture in the living area??? The other major problem with this unit are the beds. One couple was pleasantly surprised with new mattresses. However, the other two bedrooms with king beds have Horrible mattresses. To spend a week on uncomfortable beds is frustrating, especially when we already have back and hip problems. We are planning to stay here again because of the location, but we hope these issues are resolved.

Very spacious in a nice area with beach view. Sanibel is a great place to visit- shells, great restaurants, friendly people. Be prepared to buy trash bags, dishwasher detergent if you do much cooking and laundry detergent if you do much laundry. Linens and mattress could use replacements.

I apologize that you felt you did not have adequate supplies provided for your stay but the starter kit items are just to get you up and running to allow you time to make a grocery run in order to buy all the essentials to last the week(s). This is the second time that we have stayed here. Lots of space and great location. It was nice to see that some new furniture had been added to the condo. On the down side the ice maker was broken in refrigerator. This is something that should have been taken care of immediately. Also there was a place under window where there apparently had been a leak of some kind, this area needs some attention. Unit also could use a coat of paint all over. Also bathrooms need to be updated. We plan on staying in same unit next year, would hope that some of these things are addressed.

Sanibel Surfside is a very large three bedroom condo with large living area and beautiful views. The unit could use some remodling and the mattresses were not as comfortable. Overall, a nice property.

Nice view of the beach and pool. Very spacious. Comfy bedding. Ceiling fans need to be replaced and ice machine in the fridge was not working when we arrived. Bathroom floors need a good cleaning. Too many nic nacs. I would suggest adding a chain lock up high on the doors for families with small children.

Stayed here and enjoyed the proximity to the beach and grocery store. Very nice to have the storage space on the ground level and it had plenty of beach chairs and umbrellas. Condo was clean. No broom or mop and that would have been handy to sweep the tile floors as sand tends to follow you inside. Would recommend property.

Surfside Sunset is exactly as the pictures show. It's a beautiful condo and so spacious. We loved being on the top floor with such a great view of the ocean. We had no problems with anything in the unit. Everything was neat and clean. Plenty of beach towels. Only one hair dryer so we had to pass it around, but wasn't an issue. The property was quiet and the pool was great. We never heard any noise except on Friday which was mowing day and that lasted all day, but it is a beautifully kept property, so that's understandable. The beach is full of such beautiful shells and the island is great. I highly recommend this unit to anyone wanting a large 3 bedroom condo.

Four cousins met from all over USA at this wonderful condo. The condo was in a great, quiet location yet we could walk to to restaurants and Tiki Bars along the beach. It was one of the largest condos we have stayed in as the owner bought 2 condos in this complex and made them into one. It is perfect for a large group or family. I would not hesitate to stay here again!

This unit is very large. It has a very nice view of the beach. The 3 bedrooms are large and also the 3 bathrooms however the bathrooms could use some maintenance and the beds could use some new mattresses. Kitchen area is large also- fairly well stocked--most items are older. We bought 3 frying pans- their non-stick ones were all scratched up. The toaster did not work. The living and dining areas are very nice.

The is our third year to stay at this rental with friends. We love the size of the unit, the location, the pool and the view. One complaint would be the height of the chairs around the table by the window with the view. They are very low, which makes it awkward to have a meal. They need chairs that are compatible with the table. Also, some of the mattresses need replacing. Two of the bathrooms are definitely in need of updating. But for the most part, we like this condo and plan to come back again.

(3) Husband & Wives aged 50's had a great time at this condo. View was great.
Advertised picture is exactly what you see. We grilled and cooked in on two nights. We each had our own bathroom in our bedrooms. Beach had many assorted shells on it which was nice. Local restaurants were very good. We had a very good relaxing week, Thanks!

This is our second year in a row to stay in this large beautiful condo. There is plenty of room to entertain with large families or friends or get away when you need some peace and quiet. The property and condo is very well maintained. The condo has excellent views from the third floor which is the top floor. Two covered parking spots and a beach side cabana with bathroom made it great for storing bikes and paddle boards which we rented from Rob and was waiting on us when we arrived. The beachside cabana was very handy to store all our beach stuff plus the bathroom was very convenient for the kids. Rob and Charlie do a great job making sure everything is setup for you when you arrive and are easy to contact anytime during your stay if you need anything at all. The condo is located on Donax so you are a short bike ride to everything Sanibel has to offer. This condo is hard to rent so if you get the opportunity to enjoy it I would highly recommend it. You wont be disappointed. Rent the bikes and paddle boards. They are a must. Timbers and Doc Fords are great restaurants but you cant beat the conch chowder at the Lazy Flamingo.

Surfside Sunset is the perfect Condo for three couples or a larger family. All of the condos at the complex are 2 bedroom units with the exception of this unit which is douple in size. The result: tons of space. The three bedrooms each have their own bath and all the bedrooms are large. The living space is huge as is the kitchen.The views are spectacular. The unit was built in the 70's and it does show its age. That said, it was spotless on arrival and the condo is comfotable and has everything you need. The complex is great. Nice pool. The unit has a dedicated covered parking spot. Ron and his team where great. He set up a 4 hour fishing trip which was tons of fun. It was a great week and we would do it all over in a heartbeat.

We stayed here for two weeks in January 2015. The unit was wonderful, and was as described. It was spacious, clean and quiet. The grounds and buildings were very well maintained. The view was wonderful. The property management team was responsive,courteous and very helpful. An excellent management team. We have stayed at many other Sanibel properties over the years, and this is now our favorite. We have already booked for next year.

What a welcomed surprise and delight it was when our family spent three weeks at this spacious Surfside condo!! The view of the beach was spectacular from this second floor condo. The short walking distance to the beach became a daily ritual. The facilities included a cabana with sand toys, inflatables, and umbrellas allowing us to enjoy the beach and the pool on site. Surfside is a small complex with well manicured grounds. The large kitchen, the spacious living area, and utility room with washer and dryer made our vacation a home away from home. Rob and Charlie were gracious hosts giving us guidance and assuring us a pleasant and memorable Sanibel experience. They were a wonder source of information regarding fishing, biking, kayaking, and cruise excursions. We look forward to a return visit.

I can't begin to tell you how nice a time we had last week in Sanibel. The weather was absolutely perfect! We were looking for total relaxation with family and we found it. This is not our first visit to Sanibel, but I think we will plan to stay at Surfside Sunset condo in the future.

First of all, this condo is a HUGE. You can have kids playing games and watching TV in the family room, while having total quiet and seclusion in the bedrooms at the other end of the unit. And that worked for the adults in the evening as well...with the kids sound asleep at the other end of the condo.

The location is right on the gulf. The views in the picture do not lie...that is the view from the family room and two of the bedrooms. The condo has all the modern conveniences, including a smart TV, WiFi, a wonderfully stocked kitchen. It's nice being able to cook and not have to run out for dinner every night. There is easy beach access as well as a cabana with chairs, umbrellas and beach supplies. There are community grills on the property...we had no problems getting access to them.

Of course, my kids loved the pool and the shuffleboard. Rob was simply fantastic in getting us our sports rentals...we loved the paddleboarding and the biking. The condo is clean and well-maintained.

Simply put, we had a lovely stay and look forward to returning in the future.

Our vacation was June 14-21, 2014. This is our second summer in this rental. The view is great! The condo clean. Nice, big kitchen. Three den areas, one with TV. Large round dining table, and a separate table perfect for our puzzles. Bedrooms are separated from the living areas, making nighttime much more pleasant for those who want to sleep -vs- those that want to play all night! Full size washer and dryer are a plus, as are the beach towels that are there for your use. The cabana had lots of extra beach chairs, and they're in good condition. The open expanse of windows makes a storm worthy of watching!

We had stayed at Sanibel Surfside before and knew we loved the location. This condo was perfect for our group of 6 adults- it could have accommodated a couple more.
We cooked several meals in and the well stocked, spacious kitchen was appreciated. As in most rentals, the knives were not great, you may want to bring your own if you plan on cooking much.
Rob was very prompt in returning calls, for check in, he met us at the unit with the keys. We rented bikes from Rob and were pleased with them, we rode them all week long. They were newer than others we have rented from other island companies.
I would highly recommend this unit and the property management company.

Our family of five, plus a friend, enjoyed our stay at Surfside Sunset! The condo is HUGE with more than enough room for everyone. The kitchen is well-stocked and spacious, the beds are comfortable and the views are gorgeous. The cabana was a nice feature, as well - it was great to have a place to keep all of our beach stuff, as well as a refrigerator and restroom. The Surfside complex is fantastic - beautifully landscaped, well-maintained and as close as you can get to the beach. It's centrally located, as well - it's an easy bike ride to the Lighthouse, Pinocchio's, Schnapper's, Jerry's, Over Easy Cafe, Bailey's and Island Cinema. The Sanibel Vacations team is outstanding! We drove directly to Surfside Sunset where Rob and Charley met us for checkin - it was so nice to skip the hassle of going to a rental office to pick up our key! The bikes we rented from Sanibel Vacations were like new and the guys made sure they were adjusted properly for all of us. We highly recommend Surfside Sunset and Sanibel Vacations - we've already booked again for next year!

This surfside condo was a great place to have a family get together as well as friends. there are 3 master bedrooms with plenty of room and amenities. The living room area was huge so no one was ever under foot or felt crowded. The view was most spectacular as we could even watch the dolphins travel along the shore. It is all so open and spacious-the pictures do not lie.
A great time was had by all and hope to return again in the future.

The location was perfect and the condo was clean, the facility well maintained and the size perfect for four adults and two toddlers.

It is in need of updating. There is peeling wallpaper, furniture is old, linens are older.

My biggest problem was the number of breakable items in the condo. We traveled with two toddlers and spent the first couple of hours moving all the figurines and other items up beyond their reach. There were over 200 items in the condo. We need for the children to be safe, but we also were concerned about breakage. I am sure the items had a lot of sentimental value for the owner, but we could have done with 80% less than what was there.

We really enjoyed this condo. The bedrooms were great, so unusual having 3 master bedrooms on the beach. The place was so spacious, nice décor. The view was awesome. We really enjoyed our stay here. Would definitely stay here again. Only thing that would have improved our stay, was if it hadn't rain so much(still made it to the beach everyday), and my mom wouldn't have broke her wrist on the second day.
